Global Payroll Director (Remote)
The Director, Global Payroll oversees the payroll function for Syniverse's global employee population.
This position provides leadership and management to a team of payroll specialists in the US and international locations to manage all aspects of Global Payroll processing, developing policies and procedures, overseeing time reporting and journalizing
payroll transactions in the general ledger. This position will partner with the necessary resources to design and implement best practices and build an internal structure that supports our employees worldwide. This person acts as a single point of contact for global payroll communication, research and tax.
This position also supports the financial and tax accounting aspects of all payroll processes, including outsource providers to support expatriates and tax equalization computations. In addition, this position coordinates external audits regarding international payroll related matters and has an in-depth knowledge of payroll systems, tax, and time reporting requirements. General Payroll Management Proactive, motivated, results oriented individual capable of partnering with diverse perspectives and backgrounds to negotiate positive outcomes that impact the work of internal and cross-functional partners Plan and direct payroll processes, polices and initiatives Partner with Human Resources (HR) in managing products and services provided by external payroll vendors including implementing payroll system upgrades, enhancements and new products/programs while ensuring the company's interests are managed responsibly Oversee the Payroll Administrators' timely input and review for accuracy all payroll data for scheduled payroll processing including new employee setup, prorated payments, time reporting and other payroll adjustments.
------------ Review and post payroll interfaces to company's general ledger. Assist in the monthly accounting close process. Support audit and internal control compliance processes Provides leadership and direction to team. International Payroll Management Partner with Treasury and regional payroll providers to ensure best practices and global consistency and automation for payroll processing of international employees, generate appropriate wire transfer documents and monitor that bank transactions are generated in timely manner. Serve as the central point of contact for the communication of global salary complement (bonuses, commissions, equity compensation, etc.
). Provide support to employees regarding international payroll issues. Monitor in-country compensation and absence management for statutory and company compliance requirements. Oversee regional payroll personnel and subject matter experts to coordinate global payroll accounting. Payroll and tax process owner for expatriate assignments. Responsible for scenario analysis, including but not limited to, shadow payrolls, hypothetical tax withholding and year-end tax equalization in both home and host countries. Engage with regional finance and/or HR contacts in global payroll related vendor research, selection and contract negotiation, as needed Prepare and maintain global payroll matrix and country specific tax research.
Lead the integration of payroll of acquired companies Transition payroll function from HR to Finance in all jurisdictions. Special Projects------------ Provide executive management team with payroll reports and ad hoc analysis. Perform special projects as requested. Job Requirements Minimum of 5-10 years payroll management experience in global, multi-site, multi-state environment is required. -- Strong leadership in analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills Extensive knowledge of Workday payroll module with advanced reporting skills Bachelor degree required.
Accounting degree preferred. CPP or CPA certification preferred Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and proven experience with general ledger posting/interface/reconciliation Familiarity with Wage and Hour Law and payroll related IRS regulations Highly productive with the unique ability to work and communicate with all levels of management Must have advanced PC skills (Excel, Word, Outlook), plus strong analytical, oral and written communication skills Able to effectively work on a variety of simultaneous assignments within a team environment Demonstrates competence in performing under pressure with attention to detail while maintaining a high level of confidentiality Experience in leading payroll system implementation projects
