1947 Harley-Davidson UL 74 Big Twin Flathead for sale $14,000

1947 Harley Davidson UL 74" Big Twin Flathead.

The indicated mileage is 24,283 which is believed to be original. The bike has been restored mechanically and starts, runs and rides beautifully. The steering is tight, the brakes work great, the transmission shifts smoothly.it's a really fun bike to ride. Original parts include: Frame Springer

Front End (plated) Matching Engine Cases Transmission Front and Rear Fenders Gas Tanks Gas Tank Emblems Gas Caps Oil Tank Speedometer Dash Cover (with glass Gen/Oil indicator light lens) Ignition Switch Delco-Remy Horn (works) Guide Headlight (stamping visible from the inside) Primary Covers Brake Light Kicker Pedal Front and Rear Brake Assemblies Wheel Hubs M51 Linkert Carburetor Handlebars Front Fender Light 32E Generator Crash Bars Other Misc Parts New parts include Avon tires, wiring harness, tool box, cables, exhaust, etc.

Also included is a beautiful set of American buffalo saddlebags, which are double stitched and will last a lifetime. The engine was overhauled recently with machine work completed by Steve Schackman of Antique Motorcycle Co. in St. Louis. The seller installed cylinders by Paul Friebus of American Cycle Fabrication with improved oiling capacity, etc.

The original cylinders are in good shape and will be included with this sale, if the buyer wants them. The engine has just completed it's break-in period. The transmission is a 3 speed model, which is consistent with many police bikes. Third gear has a 1:1 ratio just like 4th gear in a 4 speed transmission, so top speed is the same. Frankly, I prefer this set up over a four speed, at least in a Big Twin. The paint and finishwork on the bike shows quite a bit of patina. It looks great as is, but it would also be an easy bike to restore cosmetically.
